Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester City 4-1 back in September.
Harry Kane has told Tottenham Hotspur’s official site that his teammates started to believe that they could achieve something special last season when they beat Manchester City 4-1 at White Hart Lane.
Spurs started last campaign slowly, but by the time they faced City in front of their own supporters in September they had started to build up some momentum.
And Tottenham’s win over City confirmed that Mauricio Pochettino’s side would be serious top four challengers for the rest of the campaign.
“I think the City game (4-1 home win) was a big game for us, to beat a team that had started the season on fire in the manner we did gave us all a lot of confidence. It showed we could beat anyone," he said.
On the day, Spurs were the dominant team against Manchester City, and their performance was highly impressive.
The Lilywhites actually fell behind when Kevin De Bruyne put Manuel Pellegrini’s side in front, but Spurs fired back.
Goals from Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld, Kane and Dele Alli gave Spurs a vital three points.
Tottenham built on their win against City, and ended up finishing in third place in last season’s Premier League.
