Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld has had a domestic campaign to remember, making an instant impact at White Hart Lane after his summer move and proving to be one of the signings of the season.

The former Atletico Madrid man is now preparing for the European Championships with his Belgian teammates and he will form the bedrock of his country’s defence alongside Tottenham colleague Jan Vertonghen.

The Spurs duo played at centre-back in Belgium’s warm-up friendly against Norway on Sunday evening and Alderweireld played his part in a 3-2 victory, providing the assist for Laurent Ciman’s goal that ended the scoring.
