The big striker may struggle for a regular start in France.
The European Championships in France are coming up and whilst much of the attention will be on those players who ply their trade in some of the best leagues in the world, there will be plenty of players from the Championship involved as well.
So who makes our list of the top ten players at the Euros from England’s second tier?
The likes of Wolves Dave Edwards, Derby’s Jeff Hendrick and Burnley’s Tom Heaton have all missed out – so who comes in at number two?
Sam Vokes – Burnley and Wales
The big striker proved vital to Burnley’s Championship title campaign this season and will be heading to France with Wales – although not likely to be as a starter.
He struggled for regular starts with Wales due to the international form of Hal Robson-Kanu and the incredible Gareth Bale.
That being said, his season for Burnley might just carry him into the starting XI.
He scored 16 goals for the side and provided the perfect strike partner for the lethal Andre Gray.
If he could form a similar partnership with Real Madrid’s Bale – then Wales might prove too hot to handle for many, including England.
