Rotherham United are interested in signing Anthony Stokes from Celtic in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.
It has been reported by the British tabloid that newly-appointed Rotherham boss Alan Stubbs wants to add Stokes to the current squad.
Stubbs worked with the Celtic striker at Hibernian during the second half of the 2015-16 season.
The Republic of Ireland international struggled for playing time at the Bhoys in the first half of the 2015-16 campaign and joined Scottish Championship outfit Hibernian on loan in the January transfer window.
Should Anthony Stokes join Rotherham United?
The Championship is probably more attractive than the Scottish Premiership, but Celtic are a much bigger club than Rotherham.
The Millers narrowly escaped relegation from the Championship at the end of the past season, and they are likely to struggle for survival during the 2016-17 campaign.
Celtic will be favourites for the Scottish Premiership title next season and could also feature in the Champions League.
While Stokes will have to fight for his place in Brendan Rodgers’s team, perhaps it would be best for him if he remains at Celtic and tries to prove himself to the new manager.
