Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly in contention for the Southampton job.

According to The Mirror, former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is in contention for the Southampton job, once Ronald Koeman’s move to Everton is confirmed.
Koeman, 53, has spent two years in charge of the Saints having arrived from Feyenoord as Mauricio Pochettino left for Tottenham in 2014, and he’s impressed at St. Mary’s Stadium.

After two top-seven finishes at Southampton, it’s now claimed that Koeman is on his way to Everton, leaving Southampton to search for a new manager.
Now, The Mirror report that a manager in contention for the job is Manuel Pellegrini, who recently left his role as Manchester City boss following Pep Guardiola’s arrival.

The 62-year-old, who won the Premier League title in 2014, guided City to the Champions League semi-finals this season, but is now a free agent having been let go by City at the end of his contract.
However, it’s claimed that Pellegrini has settled in England and would like to join another Premier League club, meaning he’s now in the running for the Southampton job once Koeman goes.

It’s believed that Pellegrini faces stern competition from Dutch boss Frank de Boer having left Ajax, but with a proven record in the Premier League, Chilean Pellegrini should be a major candidate – though his age could be a concern for the Saints.
