Newcastle United fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to speculation linking the club with a move for Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford in the summer transfer window.
According to a recent report in The Chronicle, Newcastle are considering making a move for Bamford this summer.
The 22-year-old is a promising young forward who has proved himself in the Championship. The youngster played on loan for Middlesbrough from Chelsea during the 2014-15 season.
Bamford had a great spell at the Riverside Stadium, as he scored 16 goals and created 28 chances in 40 Championship appearances for Boro.
The England Under-21 international, though, had struggled to adapt to the Premier League.
The young forward’s loan spells at Crystal Palace and Norwich City during the 2015-16 campaign were far from impressive.
Bamford struggled for playing time at both Palace and Norwich, who got relegated from the Premier League and will play in the Championship next season.
Below are some of the best comments:
Anichebe and Bamford are quite underwhelming targets in my opinion, although we are in the Championship after all. #nufc— NUFC 360 (@NUFC360) June 5, 2016
Going in to the season with Mitrovic, Perez, Bamford and Armstrong as a potential striking options I'd be quietly confident. #NUFC— Jordan Knill (@jeordietk) June 5, 2016
Whilst I'd like Bamford at #NUFC he isn't experienced, another young talent, would much prefer McCormack!— Absolute Newcastle (@AbsoluteNUFC) June 5, 2016
If we get Bamford and McCormack and keep Mitro and Perez I'd be happy with that for next season #nufc— Michael Gallon (@MichaelGallon) June 5, 2016
