Leicester City's Jamie Vardy wins the Barclays Player Of The Season Award
Liverpool have offered Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy £140,000-per-week to try and secure him ahead of Arsenal, reports the Mirror.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger
They are not the only ones interested in his services, with Liverpool also keen on the England forward this summer.
However, they cannot activate the release clause in his deal as it is only available to clubs in the Champions League.
Instead, they have offered him huge wages of £140,000-per-week to try and lure him to Anfield ahead of the Emirates, according to the Mirror.
Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp
As far as they are concerned, Vardy is seeking wages of around £120,000-per-week, which the Reds are willing to beat to get him ahead of their rivals.
Having activated his release clause, the Gunners are in pole position to sign him this summer.
They face a fight to prise him away from Leicester City though, who will be loathe to lose their star man and may offer him a new deal to try and remove the buyout clause from his current deal.
