Nottingham Forest have been making the news quite regularly in Greece recently. It comes as the club continue to be linked with a takeover deal regarding the Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Now the club are in the Greek news again, but this time for a player transfer story.

It is reported by Metrosport in Greece that former Everton striker Apostolos Vellios is a transfer target for Forest.

The report claims that Forest are keen on signing the player, who is valued at around €1.2 million (£940,000), as they seek to bring in some striking reinforcements.

The report also suggests that Iraklis, Vellios’ current team, shareholder Spyros Papathanasaki was recently in Athens which has fanned the rumour’s flames.

Vellios has finally found his feet at Iraklis after struggling after leaving Everton.

The Greek striker impressed at Goodison Park when he did feature, which wasn’t often. He ended up leaving in 2014 and had a torrid time in Belgium with Lierse, and out on loan in Denmark with Vestjaelland.

Last summer he headed home to Iraklis. He scored 13 goals in 2015-16 from 32 games and recently secured himself a place in the Greek national team for the first time.

Forest are looking for a new striker. They were short already last season and Vellios might prove the perfect fit.
