According to L’Equipe Arsenal have been after him for a few months, with Arsene Wenger and scout Giles Grimandi are both keen on the midfielder.

However, the report does concede that after the arrival of Xhaka, a move for another midfielder is not top of the Gunners plans at present.

They are not the only side interested in the 21-year-old though; with Serie A side Napoli also chasing his signature.

They are willing to pay as much as €16million, around £12.5million, with chairman Aurelio di Laurentis thought to be doing the negotiating himself such is their level of interest in the player.

Lyon do want to sell though and have made it abundantly clear that they are not interested in selling Tolisso.
