Celtic midfielder Scott Allan has told the club’s official website he and the rest of the squad are relishing starting work under Brendan Rodgers.

The former Liverpool manager was confirmed as the new Celtic manager last month, replacing Ronny Deila at the helm.

His appointment has been heralded as a major coup for the Scottish champions, with it thought they have beaten off Premier League interest for his services.

Several of the team squad have already expressed their delight at his arrival and their hopes for success under his leadership in future.

And Allan is the latest to do so, saying that he and the rest of the squad are relishing the return to training following the summer break.

“We are really excited and we are all looking forward to getting back in,” he told celticfc.net.

“All the boys are really relishing coming back and working under him. It was a massive appointment and hopefully he brings out the best in the players.”

Allan in particular will be keen to get back and stake a claim for a first team place after a disappointing year for him.

He failed to make any significant impact under Ronny Deila as he struggled to make it into the first team setup.

With the Norwegian now gone though, every player is starting on a clean slate, and Allan will be desperate to get in and stake his claim.
