Sheffield United are ready to battle Millwall for Blackburn Rovers midfielder Chris Taylor, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Taylor is out of contract at Blackburn this month and he looks set to leave Ewood Park on a free transfer

Taylor joined Blackburn on a free transfer from Millwall in the summer of 2013, but he struggled to hold down a regular place in the starting XI during his time at the clin

The 29-year-old spent the last few months of the season back on loan at former club Millwall and he helped the club reach the League One play-off final only to lose to Barnsley.

Millwall are keen to sign Taylor on a permanent basis with the winger scoring three goals in 13 appearances during his loan stint.

However, Sheffield United are hoping to lure Taylor to Bramall Lane and have held talks with the player over a move to South Yorkshire.

New Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is a big admirer of Taylor and he sees the former Oldham man as being a key addition to his plans for next season at Bramall Lane.
