Spain's Marc Bartra tussles with Harry Kane
Tottenham Hotspur look set to be disappointed in their pursuit of Barcelona centre-back Marc Bartra with talkSPORT reporting via Spanish newspaper SPORT that the Spaniard is on the verge of signing a new deal with the Catalan giants, before being loaned out to Serie A side Fiorentina.
talkSPORT also claims that Manchester United and Liverpool were interested in acquiring the 25-year-old, but with this latest twist in developments, all three English clubs look to have lost out in the race for his signature.
talkSPORT understand Bartra wil sign a new deal at Barcelona before being loaned out to Fiorentina
Bartra has been involved with the Barcelona first team since 2009 and is a product of their famed La Masia academy after joining as an 11-year-old. He has gone on to make a combined 141 appearances for the first team and Barcelona B.
Bartra would have been ideally suited to a club like Tottenham
His superior technique and speed across the ground would have been ideally suited a team like Tottenham who like to play out from the back, so Spurs fans will feel like Bartra is one that got away, if he signs a new contract and is subsequently loaned out to La Viola.
Bartra is currently on duty with the Spanish national team as they prepare for Euro 2016.
