According to Polish media outlet Sportowe Fakty, Tottenham Hotspur scouts were in attendance as Poland lost 2-1 to the Netherlands on Wednesday, with Karol Linetty their target.

Poland are preparing for Euro 2016, but were beaten in Warsaw on Wednesday evening by a Netherlands side who haven't even qualified for the European Championships.

Vincent Janssen's opener for the Dutch was cancelled out by an equaliser from Artur Jedrzejczyk, before Newcastle's Georginio Wijnaldum won the game for the Netherlands.

It wasn't what Poland wanted with just days to go until the tournament kicks off, but there could be some good news for one player involved in the game.

Lech Poznan midfielder Karol Linetty has been one of the most highly-rated Polish youngsters in recent years, and is in the squad for Euro 2016 even if he may not start in France this summer.

Now, Sportowe Fakty report that Linetty was being watched on Wednesday by Tottenham Hotspur scouts, as he came on for Robert Lewandowski with 25 minutes to play.

Spurs need a new midfielder this summer, and links to Linetty are particularly interesting given that The Sun reported in the summer of 2014 that manager Mauricio Pochettino wanted Linetty at White Hart Lane - and two years on he could be moving for him again.

Primarily a holding midfielder with strength and good passing ability, Linetty has potential to grow in the coming years, especially under a manager like Pochettino, who loves to develop young players, and a move for the Pole could be on the cards if Tottenham's scouts liked what they saw.
