Newcastle United fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to the impending exit of Steven Taylor.
The 30-year-old defender joined the Magpies back in 1995 and made his first-team debut in 2003.
The Englishman played to the best of his ability at St. James’ Park, and he is now set to leave Newcastle, who got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign and will play in the Championship next season.
Taylor was never a great defender, but he tried his best and was fully committed whenever he took to the pitch.
There have been injury problems in recent years, and it was clear to most observers that he would struggle to feature regularly in Rafael Benitez’s side in the Championship next season.
Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to have their say on the departure of Taylor.
Below are some of the best comments:
@hardy27 he was good when he was younger but injuries, coaching and fellow CB's didn't help. Always tried though so think abuse is harsh— Dave Smith (@DaveSmith8882) June 3, 2016
@NUFC quality wise he wasn't the best but you can't fault his character and commitment, all the best— bailey (@baileywallace7) June 3, 2016
@NUFC thanks for the memories Steven! Great servant to this great club. All the very best.— Nigel Merriman (@nigel_merriman) June 3, 2016
@NUFC stole a living this bloke. Should be done about 3-4 years ago this!— Michael Williams (@MickyW1982) June 3, 2016
