Quoted by Goal, former Liverpool midfielder Jason McAteer says that current Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has a little bit of Bill Shankly about him.

The German has been a big hit at Anfield since replacing Brendan Rodgers at the club back in October.

His first year in charge was a decent one, as he led them to the finals of both the Europa League and the Capital One Cup, which they lost to Sevilla and Manchester City respectively.

Many are predicting a bright future for the club under Klopp’s leadership given the success he enjoyed at former club Borussia Dortmund.

And McAteer is one who has been impressed by him, saying he has a little bit of Liverpool’s legendary manager Bill Shankly about him.

"He fits Liverpool perfectly, and the fans adore him. For me, he’s got that bit of Shankly about him," said McAteer, speaking at the Ladbrokes #ForTheFans Euro 2016 preview event, reported by Goal.

"He’s got that wanting to build an empire, he’s got that wanting to build a club again and take them back to the top. And with him, what you see is what you get."

It will now be interesting to see how Liverpool will fare next season, with the Premier League looking to be a highly competitive one.

With Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and Antonio Conte at Chelsea, the fight for the top four and indeed the title will be a fierce one to say the least.
