Garry Monk has been appointed as the new Leeds United head coach.
Newly-appointed Leeds United head coach Garry Monk has told The Yorkshire Post that he expects the players to return to pre-season training at the end of June.
The Leeds players are on holiday or on international holiday at the moment, and Monk believes that they will return for pre-season training at Thorp Arch at the end of this month.
“We are already working on that,” the former Swansea City manager told The Yorkshire Post when asked about his pre-season plans.
“Internally, the logistics side of it are a little bit more difficult because in a more different situation you would have those things sorted throughout the previous season but for obvious reasons it’s not been.
“But having spoken to the club already, those things are being worked on as we speak. There will be a six-week preparation period, which for me is the perfect preparation period for a pre-season so they will be back at the end of June.”
Monk is a very promising and talented young manager, but he will be under pressure at Leeds.
Leeds are one of the biggest clubs of England, and the fans will expect at least a push for the top six in the Championship next season.
It will not be easy for the West Yorkshire outfit, but if Monk is able to sign a few good players, then they should be in the mix.
The key for the Whites next season will be a good start. If Leeds are able to get some positive results in the opening weeks of the 2016-17 campaign, then they will have a decent chance of making the playoffs.
