Southampton manager Ronald Koeman
The Blues are currently looking for their next manager, having sacked Roberto Martinez last season after a disappointing campaign.
A number of names have been linked with the position, and Koeman is among those that have been suggested.
The Saints boss had been heavily linked earlier in the campaign before interest cooled, as it appeared he would be staying on the South Coast instead.
However, he is now clear favourite for the position, with the Mirror reporting that Blues chairman Bill Kenwright is confident of securing a deal this weekend.
Would be a major coup for the Toffees if they were to land Koeman. Shows the standing and reputation the club still got.— Didi Hamann (@DietmarHamann) June 3, 2016
Should Koeman be appointed at Goodison Park, it will be interesting to see the work that they do in the transfer market this summer.
It has already been suggested he will be given £100million and above to improve, which would be a huge transfer budget for the Toffees.
If those rumours prove to be true it will be a drastic change for Everton, and clearly signal their intentions to challenge at the top in future.
