General view during the match
The representative of apparent Glasgow Rangers target Khalid Aucho has spoken about the interest from Ibrox today.
Geoffrey Kayemba is quoted by Kawowo as stating:
“They sent the letter to the club on Thursday.
“They have made the offer and all we await is Gor Mahia’s response but we expect everything to go on smoothly.”
He went on to make it clear the offer was a good one for the player, but that he could snub Rangers if a better deal came up elsewhere:
“It’s a good offer for all parties involved but talks will begin soon to sort everything out.
“There are other clubs that have shown interest but they are yet to make it official. The door isn’t closed for now until a better offer comes up.”
Rangers manager Mark Warburton celebrates at the end of the match
This follows confirmation from Gor Mahia’s club chairman Ambrose Rachier earlier this week, as reported by Goal, that the Kenyan club had received an offer from Rangers for their 22-year-old midfield talent.
The Ugandan international – who has been compared to former Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama – was first said to be interesting Rangers by African Football.
Aucho also confirmed his interest in joining Mark Warburton’s Ibrox side to Goal late last month.
Rangers have already made vast improvements in the midfield this summer but obviously Mark Warburton must see the potential of Aucho as too much to pass up.
General view before the match
A work permit might be a struggle, but he is a Ugandan regular and, whilst they currently sit outside the requisite FIFA ranking of 70, they have spent much of the past two years inside the threshold – which should mean he is eligible.
However, it appears that other teams are keen on the player and that Rangers may want to move fast to tie down this deal.
