The England striker nearly had his head taken off by Bruno Alves.
Portugal's Bruno Alves fouls England's Harry Kane before being sent off
England took on Portugal tonight in a game they won 1-0 against their long-term tournament nemeses.
Chris Smalling’s late header made sure England picked up a win from a game which was, in as polite a way as possible, dreadful.
One of the only major talking points of the game was the karate kick from Portugal defender Bruno Alves.

But, in credit to Kane, he immediately got himself off the ground and tried advancing at goal. Unfortunately, the referee had already pulled up play to, rightly, send off Alves.
But Tottenham Hotspur were clearly very proud of their striker – as this tweet from the club showed:
Considering that not long into the second half Portugal midfielder Danilo Pereira rolled around on the floor for a minute after the sleeve of Jamie Vardy’s England shirt brushed his eyelash – Portugal can be embarrassed and Kane can earn his credit.
However, if the Spurs striker continues to take his woeful set-pieces, perhaps a karate kick might be needed.
