Leeds United appointed Garry Monk as their manager earlier today, while Celtic named Brendan Rodgers as their new boss last month.
Adam Virgo has stated on Twitter that Garry Monk would have been better suited for Celtic than the Leeds United job.
Monk was appointed at Elland Road earlier today, and he has penned a one-year deal with Leeds.
The former Swansea boss’s arrival at Leeds has created a great deal of excitement with fans of the Yorkshire club, but Virgo isn’t sure that it is a good fit.
The former Brighton, Celtic and Yeovil defender, who now works as a pundit for Channel 5 on their Football League coverage, says that Monk would have slotted in better at Parkhead than Elland Road.
@Parker80A l like Gary Monk thought Celtic job would be a good suit for him. Leeds right club but wrong time with the owner— Adam Virgo (@Adamvirgs19) June 1, 2016
Monk’s arrival at Leeds comes as somewhat of a surprise, given the lower profile managers who have already rejected the job.
Leeds have been turned down by Karl Robinson and Darrell Clarke recently, but Monk was more open to the opportunity of taking charge of one of the biggest clubs in English football.
Celtic, meanwhile, have opted to put Brendan Rodgers in charge for next season.
The Bhoys parted company with Ronny Deila at the end of last season, and decided that Rodgers was the right man to take them forward.
