The Bayern Munich midfielder would fit in brilliantly at White Hart Lane.
Die Welt reported Rode has made his intention to leave Bayern Munich clear after struggling for regular first-team football with the Bavarians.
So would he be a good signing for Spurs?
Last summer it was reported by Kicker that Spurs were looking to bring Rode to the club but then Bayern boss Pep Guardiola blocked any move. He has headed to Manchester City so nothing seems in Rode’s way regarding an exit.
Tottenham need a central midfielder. The club have numbers in the position but in reality the likes of Ryan Mason, Nabil Bentaleb and Tom Carroll, whose contract situation at the club is still in doubt, are not good enough to guide Spurs to a Premier League title.
When Bayern snapped up Rode in 2014 from Eintracht Frankfurt he arrived as one of Germany’s brightest young talents and rightly so.
An absolute athlete with a superb tackling ratio he also has an eye for a pass and would be perfect in a Mauricio Pochettino midfield.
If Spurs are interested then good news, if not then they should be. Rode could be one of the steals of the summer and Spurs must move to bring him to White Hart Lane.
