Everton and Manchester United are set to do battle for super scout Eduardo Macia, reports the Mirror.

Both clubs are seeking to overhaul their scouting systems this summer as they look to improve their work in future.

New manager Jose Mourinho is keen to improve United’s transfer business after a number of disappointing signings under predecessor Louis van Gaal.

Everton meanwhile look set to take a completely different approach to their work following the investment of Farhad Moshiri.

There has already been talk of a Director of Football being installed at the club, and additions to the scouting and recruitment teams could also be on the cards.

That has led them to targeting Macia, according to the Mirror, but they could face competition from United for his services.

The former scout is highly rated in the game, having been credited with finding a wealth of talent such as Fernando Torres and Javier Mascherano during his time at Anfield.

Spanish giants Barcelona were also keen to recruit him back in January last year, another indication of his standing in the world of football.
