A report in Germany is suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur could come back for Bayern Munich midfielder Sebastian Rode this summer.

Die Welt has reported that Rode has made his intention to Bayern Munich regarding his future clear. He is said to want an exit from the Allianz Arena after struggling for regular first-team football with the Bavarians.

The report claims Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund are leading the chase for the player, however Tottenham are also mentioned as interested in the player – along with Wolfsburg and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Spurs have of course been linked with Rode in the past.

Last summer it was reported by Kicker that Spurs were looking to bring Rode to the club, however Bayern boss Pep Guardiola was all set to veto any potential exit as he was a big fan of his talents.

Guardiola is of course no longer running things at Bayern and it would seem that this summer Rode is actually up for grabs.

Rode joined Bayern in 2014 from Eintracht Frankfurt and the 25-year-old is considered one of his country’s best midfield operators. However, he has struggled with the competition for places at Bayern – featuring just 17 times last season.

Rode’s arrival at Spurs would certainly be welcomed with the club thin for quality in central midfield – and the likes of Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb seemingly surplus to requirements.
