Southampton are plotting a return from Arsenal for their former star Calum Chambers, reports the Mirror.

Southampton are keen to add to their squad this summer as they gear up to take part in the Europa League next season.

Manager Ronald Koeman is looking to add to his defence in particular, and has apparently targeted a former star among his potential signings.

That man is Arsenal man Calum Chambers, who looks set to leave the Emirates on loan next season.

According to the Mirror, Koeman sent scouts to watch the defender star for the England U21’s in their successful Toulon Tournament campaign last week.

He was a regular for the national side, but that is not the case for Arsenal, where he failed to start a Premier League game this past season.

That is not an ideal situation for the 21-year-old, whose rapid progression has been seriously halted by the lack of game time.

The Saints are not the only ones interested in his services either, with Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Swansea and Watford also pursuing a potential deal in this transfer window.
