Southampton are considering a move for Sporting defender Ruben Semedo, reports A Bola.

Southampton will be looking to add to their squad this summer as they gear up for a Europa League campaign next season.

They are already likely to be scouting out potential targets, with Ronald Koeman sure to want to add numbers given the extra games they will face.

And it appears that they have been looking in Portugal for potential talent, with their eyes on one man in particular.

That is defender Ruben Semedo, who A Bola claims the Saints have scouted on several different occasions.

Indeed, according to the Portuguese media outlet, they have even gone as far as to send various scouts so as to gain different opinions on him.

As far as the report is concerned, those scouts have been impressed and they have sent positive reviews back to the club.

So far an approach has not been made, but the Saints could be considering a move in the near future.

He would not be the first Sporting defender to make the move to St Mary’s, with full back Cedric having swapped Portugal for the Premier League last summer.
