The Norwegian had a good season in 2015-16.
Peterborough's Martin Samuelsen misses during the penalty shootout
West Ham United talent Martin Samuelsen certainly had a season to remember in 2015-16.
He joined the Hammers at the start of the season from Manchester City and had a brilliant season, catching the eye during a loan spell with Peterborough United.
Next season the hope will be that Samuelsen can force his way into the West Ham first-team picture and he has been speaking about those hopes to Hegnar in his native Norway.
He believes that he would in fact be better in the Premier League!
West Ham's Martin Samuelsen
He referenced his performance against West Brom for the Posh in the FA Cup and stated he would play better in the less physical top-flight:
“There is another kind of football that suits me better, but it's hard to say. I've played against West Bromwich. It was not so difficult that. But it is something else to meet Chelsea and Manchester United.
“The physical football there (in League One) was something that is not an advantage for me. To get the ball more along the ground, where I get more ball contact, will make me a better footballer.”
Samuelsen came to the fore in that game – with West Ham fans purring over the ability of their midfield maestro.
He ended up featuring 20 times for the London Road club, scoring two goals.
Samuelsen still has plenty of improving to do over the summer but he will certainly be hoping to get some experience in the Premier League throughout the 2016-17 season.
