The former England boss thinks the Everton star could miss out on the European Championships.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Glenn Hoddle has claimed that Everton star Ross Barkley could be in danger of being dropped by England for the upcoming European Championships in France.

The Everton star endured a frustrating campaign as a bright start petered out while his side struggled to find form. Nonetheless he was named in Roy Hodgson’s provisional 26-man England squad for Euro 2016 last week.

However, with the Three Lions boss needing to cut three men out of that squad, it has been suggested that Barkley may be one of those left behind.

And Hoddle agrees with that idea, saying the Toffees star is at risk of being dropped for the tournament in France.

“Roy Hodgson has some big choices to make in the next few days as he whittles down his squad to 23 for Euro 2016,” he told the Daily Mail.

“Sturridge may be considered too much of a risk but if he convinces Roy that he is fit, then Ross Barkley might suddenly be vulnerable. He's a wonderful player but he isn't in good form at the moment.”

It will certainly be interesting to see who Hodgson elects to cut from the squad at the end of the month.

Fabian Delph looks likely to miss out after picking up an injury, but beyond him it is hard to see who Hodgson elects to leave behind.

Much is likely to rest on fitness, with questions still remaining over the likes of Sturridge, Jordan Henderson and Jack Wilshere.
