According to Foot365 via Get French Football News, Rachid Ghezzal has turned down a new deal at Lyon and his situation has attracted plenty of interest from West Ham United.

The report claims that the Hammers are monitoring the situation and may see the winger as an ideal alternative to Gokhan Tore, a player the report says is valued at a hefty £16.7 million by Besiktas.

West Ham are looking to build on their superb debut campaign under Slaven Bilic and the impending switch to the Olympic Stadium certainly makes them an interesting proposition this summer.

With Europa League football on offer too, the Hammers are said to be looking at making a big-name striker signing as well as a few more unearthed gems in the mould of Dimitri Payet.

Ghezzal could fit the description well, netting an impressive ten goals in 38 appearances for Lyon last season and boasting Champions League experience with the French club.

The 24-year-old is currently being monitored by a host of Premier League clubs (the Sunderland Echo), such as Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Liverpool, Stoke City and title contenders Arsenal.

That said, it appears West Ham are pushing to the front of the queue as they consider alternatives to Tore who could prove quite difficult to land this summer following Besiktas’ success this past season.

With Ghezzal turning down Lyon’s offer of a contract extension, it seems he could be on the way this summer as the French club would probably wish to sell him now rather than risk losing him for free in 12 months.
