According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham are considering a summer move for Southampton star Sadio Mane in what would be a blockbuster deal for the club.

Spurs need to make some calculated additions to their side this summer, as manager Mauricio Pochettino will not only want another pursuit of the Premier League title, but will also want to compete in next season's Champions League.

It's no great secret that Spurs must add some more firepower in attack, and whether that's with another striker to support leading goalscorer Harry Kane or a dangerous option out wide, money will be spent on improving options in the final third.

Now, the Daily Mail report that Spurs are considering a swoop on Southampton, as not only do they want midfielder Victor Wanyama, but now winger Sadio Mane too.

The Senegal international, 24, has impressed since his 2014 move from Red Bull Salzburg, hitting ten goals last season and 15 in all competitions this past season.

Southampton have struggled to keep their big name players at the club in the last couple of years, with the likes of Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren, Luke Shaw, Morgan Schneiderlin and Adam Lallana all leaving the South Coast - and now Mane could be the next to add to the list.

With Spurs looking to add a direct goal threat out wide, Mane fits the bill perfectly, and Tottenham's Head of Recruitment Paul Mitchell - formerly of Southampton - played a big part in signing Mane back in the summer of 2014.

Having proven himself in the Premier League, it would be no surprise to see Mitchell push for Pochettino to land Mane this summer, though The Sun recently reported that Manchester United are ready to bid around £25m for the Senegal star, meaning Spurs would have to put together a blockbuster offer to snap him up.
