According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United are considering whether to loan out full-back Kevin Mbabu next season.
The 21-year-old endeared himself to supporters with some excellent showings - including one against then-Premier League champions Chelsea - this past season.
But overall, the Swiss youngster saw first-team football severely limited in a campaign which saw the Magpies relegated from the Premier League into the Championship, making five appearances in all competitions - one of which was in 2016.
Given that England's second tier is anything but a cakewalk, the Chronicle report that manager Rafael Benitez - expected to tie Mbabu down to a two-year extension, until 2018 - is weighing up whether to send him on loan for some experience next term.
It may be his best bet. If the likes of Daryl Janmaat and Vurnon Anita stay at the club, which they might well do following Benitez's decision to stay despite relegation, then Mbabu is unlikely to be given a prominent role.
As mentioned, he really caught the eye in that 2-2 draw with Chelsea, playing at left-back on an evening which saw him expertly deal with the likes of Eden Hazard and Pedro.
By virtue of his promise, some Newcastle fans may be disappointed if he leaves on loan.
