Speaking to Sky Sports, Arsenal new Granit Xhaka has stated that he finds the pitch at the Emirates Stadium "unbelievable".

The 23-year-old sealed a £30 million (Independent) switch to the Gunners from Borussia Monchengladbach this week.

Xhaka claims to have already surveyed the scenes of his new home and the Swiss midfielder says that he is blown away by the quality of the pitch.

"I feel good, now I'm happy to be a Gunner," Xhaka told Sky Sports.

"It's been a big week for me but now it's official and I'm very happy. Arsenal is a big club. I've seen the pitch, it's unbelievable. It was a dream for me and I'm happy now."

Arsenal have long been associated with an immaculate playing surface and Xhaka will enjoy playing on it next term.

He is expected to compete with the likes of Francis Coquelin for the defensive midfield role under manager Arsene Wenger, adding much-needed steel to a team who have faced accusations of being a touch too soft - physically and mentally.

Arsenal fans will be delighted with the coup. For them, it may represent a sign that Wenger is ready to significantly bolster the squad - he may need to.

It could be the most competitive Premier League in history next term, but Wenger has certainly got off to a very decent start on that front.
