Spurs are reportedly looking to strengthen four areas of their team.

According to Sky Sports, Mauricio Pochettino has targeted four areas to strengthen in the transfer market this summer after scouting Vincent Janssen.

Pochettino saw his Spurs side falter in the title race this past season, and then collapse in the final two games to once again finish below North London rivals Arsenal.

With a return to the Champions League on the horizon, Spurs not only need to strengthen for another title challenge, but also to compete with Europe's elite next season.

Given that the transfer window is moving ever closer, Pochettino appears to be eyeing up some new signings, with Sky Sports reporting that he wants to add players in four positions.

The first is at centre half, as whilst Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are one of the Premier League's best combinations in the heart of defence, Pochettino may seek right-footed cover for Alderwiereld, given that the left-footed Kevin Wimmer is a like-for-like replacement for Vertonghen.

Pochettino also wants a holding midfielder, as Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele have little quality depth behind them, with neither Ryan Mason nor Nabil Bentaleb impressing this past season.

Another attacking midfielder is also being targeted, with competition wanted for star players Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli, with Pochettino looking to add even more creativity behind Harry Kane.

Finally, it's common knowledge that Pochettino wants a striker to ease some of the pressure on leading scorer Kane, and he was watching a possible target on Friday.

The Spurs boss travelled to Dublin to watch the Republic of Ireland take on the Netherlands, and it was AZ Alkmaar ace Vincent Janssen being watched, according to Sky's report.

The 21-year-old striker hit 29 goals in 43 games for AZ Alkmaar this past season, making a huge impact following a move from Almere City last summer - and he may be targeted as cover for Kane this summer.
