Watford are interested in signing Gaston Ramirez in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.
Ramirez is on the books of Southampton at the moment, but the attacking midfielder will become a free agent at the end of next month when his current contract runs out.
It has been reported by The Sun that new Watford manager Walter Mazzarri was impressed with the Uruguay international when he faced him in Serie A.
The former Bologna attacking midfielder played on loan for Boro from Southampton during the second half of the 2015-16 campaign.
Ramirez scored seven goals and created 34 chances in 16 Championship appearances for Middlesbrough, who gained automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Perhaps it would be best for the midfielder if he signs for Boro, as he knows the club well, although Watford will probably have bigger ambitions than Middlesbrough next season.
