Leeds United's main managerial target, Darrell Clarke, has signed a new contract for Bristol Rovers.
The bulk of Leeds United fans on Twitter have backed Darrell Clarke’s decision to sign a new contract at Bristol Rovers.
Clarke had been identified as a replacement for Steve Evans at Elland Road, and the two clubs had been trying to agree a compensation package.
Leeds had been expected to pay around £250,000 to get the chance to speak to Clarke, but before they even got the opportunity to hold discussions with the promising young manager he decided to commit his future to Rovers.
Clarke has signed a three-year deal with the Gas, meaning Leeds will now have to look elsewhere for their next manager.
Who Leeds turn to next is very much uncertain, given that their advances have now been rejected by two different Football League managers.
Karl Robinson, who is in charge at MK Dons, already decided against moving to Elland Road, before Clarke’s decision was announced earlier today.
Leeds fans have no qualms with Clarke turning them down, and they even say he has made a smart decision.
Leeds have had a tendency to fire managers very quickly, and Whites supporters have suggested that the managerial position at Elland Road is just not a particularly attractive job anymore.
Here is the best reaction from Leeds fans to Clarke’s decision to sign a new contract with Bristol Rovers on social media site Twitter.
Seems like a smart guy does Clarke. We should try and get someone like him as manager. #lufc— Biff (@StevieBiff) May 27, 2016
