Whites supporters would love to see their former manager back at Elland Road.

While Massimo Cellino searches for the man to replace dead man walking Steve Evans as Leeds United boss, one of the Italian's former managerial casualties became available again on Friday morning.

Brian McDermott spent 13 months in charge at Elland Road, taking over before the controversial owner acquired the club and immediately being fired in controversial circumstances.

Before Cellino's takeover had even been ratified it was reported that he had moved to dismiss the manager, and though McDermott was briefly reinstated, he survived only until the end of the 2013-14 season before being fired for good.

The 55-year-old had taken over at the Whites after being dismissed by Reading, but after a 14-month spell as chief scout at Arsenal he returned to the Madejski Stadium in December.

However, the Royals underwhelming season has seen him sacked again by the Berkshire club, meaning that McDermott has the dubious distinction of having been fired twice by both Reading and Leeds in the last three years.

Despite his unfortunate recent record, though, it appears as though there are many Leeds fans out there who would be more than happy to see their former boss return when Cellino inevitably removes Evans.

Others, though, were far from convinced.
