Switzerland's Granit Xhaka after the match
New Arsenal signing Granit Xhaka has told the club’s official website he spoke to former Gunners Havard Nordtveit, Johan Djourou and Philippe Senderos before making the move.
Arsenal completed a move for Xhaka this week, as completed a reported £35 million move from Borussia Monchengladbach.
He is their first signing of the summer transfer window, with many expecting Arsene Wenger’s side to make a number of additions this year.
Fans and pundits have warmly welcomed his arrival at the club alike, with it being anticipated that he will play a key role in the side next season.

And it seems he did his research on Arsenal before making the move, as he asked a trio of former Gunners about the club ahead of the switch.
“I spoke with [Nordtveit] about Arsenal and he told me it’s a big club, a family club and it’s very important for me to come here,” Xhaka told Arsenal Player.
"Philippe played here and I play with him in the national team. Johan and Philippe have only told me positive things.”

It will certainly be interesting to see what role Xhaka will play for Arsenal next season.
It seems unlikely that he won’t be in the first team, given Wenger has spent big, he is the third biggest signing in the club’s history, to secure him.
Who he replaces in the side is a tough choice though, with Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin both having impressed in the defensive midfielder role in the past.
