One of Tottenham Hotspur’s breakout performers in the Premier League in the 2015-16 campaign has made his intention to stay with the club clear this week.

Erik Lamela is currently preparing for the Copa America with Argentina – and spoke at a news conference yesterday alongside Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain.

Toward the end of the press conference both he and the in-demand Partenopei striker were quizzed on their future and Lamela made it clear Tottenham was his immediate future.

He stated, as reported by ESPN and available on FOX Sports, that he was not focusing on club football whilst with the national team but that he was looking forward to playing in the Champions League with Spurs next season.

He was also quizzed about his role in the Argentina team, stating he was happy to play wherever Argentina coach Tata Martino asks him to:

"I have no problem playing on the right, left or behind the number nine."

"I will try to give my best for the team, which is most important. We all want the same thing, which is to win.”

Lamela had a tough start to his career with Spurs, struggling in his first two seasons with the club. However, he was in much better form last term and became an integral part of Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
