It's safe to say England fans are confident that Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph's injury will not affect their chances of glory at Euro 2016.

Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph looks set to be ruled out Euro 2016 after picking up a groin injury, ESPN has reported.

The 26-year-old picked up the problem following Sunday's 2-1 win over Turkey on Sunday, and is now unlikely to be considered for the final 23-man squad.

England boss Roy Hodgson has already confirmed that Delph will sit out Friday's friendly with Australia at the Stadium of Light, adding that the former Villa star has stayed in Manchester to receive treatment.

Hodgson, who faces the task of whittling down his squad after the clash with the Socceroos, reportedly told a news conference that Delph will now only travel to France if there are injuries to other players.

He said: "I've spoken to him [Delph] and he's stayed in Manchester, and I've made it clear to him that this means he probably won't be with us in the final 23 -- unless, of course, we have injuries.

"I've actually put him on the standby list, which he understands and accepts. I don't think it's going to be a really long-term injury for him so, if I needed him and I wanted him to come with us, it would be easy for me to ask him to do so.

"With the situation we have with the other 25 players, it might be unlikely."

It is the latest in a long line of injury blows for Delph, who suffered a hamstring problem during a pre-season game with Real Madrid last summer, which he later aggravated just 90 seconds into England's European Championship qualifier against Switzerland.

He was sidelined for another two months back in February when he picked up an Achilles tendon injury, which caused him to make just 14 starts for City this season.

But while this is a difficult time for Delph, England fans are nevertheless confident he will not be missed too much during this summer's tournament.
