International record: 107 Caps, 13 Goals

2015/16: Andres Iniesta is one of the best midfielders in the world, and the Barcelona star was in fine form this past season.

The 32-year-old attacking midfielder scored one goal and created 32 chances in 28 La Liga matches for Barca. In seven appearances in the Champions League, the Spaniard created 11 chances.

Iniesta’s stats may not be too impressive, but throughout the season he has been the player pulling the strings from midfield.

Head coach Luis Enrique did not always use the 32-year-old, and that actually aided the Spain international in performing to the best of his ability when he did play.

Andres Iniesta - Spain

What can we expect? Iniesta has won everything he could have won as a player, but the hunger is still there.

The Euro 2016 finals this summer could be the midfielder’s final European Championship, and he will certainly be looking to make a mark.

Spain are one of the favourites to win the tournament in France, and for them to clinch it, Iniesta will have to be in top form.

Manchester City move? Pep Guardiola will take charge of Manchester City in the summer, and many fans will hope that he brings Iniesta with him.

There is no doubt that the Spaniard would be a success in the Premier League, but it is unlikely that he would leave Barcelona anytime soon.

Iniesta played some of his best football under Guardiola and the mutual respect is still there, but he will remain a Barcelona player.
