Ronald De Boer has suggested that his brother, Frank, would let Romelu Lukaku ‘rot in the reserves’ if he was to take charge of Everton.

Frank De Boer has been tipped as one of the favourites for the Everton job, although the Merseyside club have reportedly made no contract with the Dutchman.

De Boer is currently out of work following his recent departure from Ajax.

Ronald De Boer has already confirmed that Frank would like the Everton job, and one of his first tasks if he was appointed would be to sort out the future of Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku has suggested that he will be on the way out of Goodison Park this summer, as he feels the time is right to move on.

However, when it was suggested to Ronald and Frank De Boer’s Twitter account that Everton should let Lukaku rot in the reserves, Ronald suggested that was exactly the stance Frank would take if he got the job.

The tweet seems to have worked wonders for Frank De Boer’s popularity, with many Everton fans now advocating giving the job to the 46-year-old.

De Boer is believed to be in competition with the likes of Manuel Pellegrini and David Moyes, as Everton look to appoint a permanent replacement for Roberto Martinez.
