Rafael Benitez delivered a lot of joy to the Newcastle United faithful yesterday after agreeing to stay put at the St. James’ Park despite the Magpies’ relegation into the Championship.
Benitez did not take up the option to exercise the break clause in his Newcastle contract and has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at the club.
The Spaniard already managed to win over the Newcastle faithful even though he had been unable to save the Magpies from the drop and his decision to stay has made him arguably one of the most popular men in the city at the moment.
Now to further endear himself to the fans, Benitez’s first act after signing the new contract was to pay a visit to the Newcastle United Disabled Supporters Association, where he mingled with the supporters at the end of season party.

Many Newcastle fans are now optimistic that Benitez will be able to guide the Magpies straight back into the Premier League next season and there is finally a feel good sentiment at the club following years of discontent.
