Aston Villa are on the look out for their next manager, as they look to bounce straight back from relegation.
The former Leicester City boss is reportedly on Villa’s wishlist, but he is competing with Roberto Di Matteo for the manager’s job.
Warnock feels that Pearson would be a much better appointment than Di Matteo, and he also has urged the Midlands club to keep hold of players such as Ciaran Clark.
“Personally, I think Pearson would be better than Di Matteo,” Warnock said, when asked who Aston Villa should appoint.
“Only because of the Championship and what it entails. Villa is not going to be a straight forward job.
“They need to keep people like Ciaran Clark, who I think is a super player. I think Nigel has the pedigree [to get them back].”
Clark has been linked with a move to West Bromwich Albion in the transfer window already.
The central-defender is said to be on Tony Pulis’ wishlist, with the Baggies keen to make a £5 million bid.
Whether Villa will be tempted to cash in remains to be seen, but they are expected to offload a number of their first-team players.
Villa’s team needs a lot of renovation work done to it, if they are to bounce straight back from relegation.
The Claret and Blues are expected to announce their new manager in the near future, once Dr Tony Xia's takeover bid is officially completed.
