Andy Couzens has told TV Yorkshire that Steve Evans is not the right manager for Leeds United.

Evans has been in charge of Leeds since October 2015 and has a contract until the end of next month.

It is still unclear if the former Rotherham United manager will remain in his position as the Whites’ head coach next season.

Former Leeds player Couzens believes that Evans is not the right man to take the West Yorkshire outfit forward.

“Is he (Steve Evans) the right man for the job?” Couzens told TV Yorkshire. “I have said this for a while. I don’t think he is.”

“I think Steve Evans tactically is not the right man for us,” added Couzens. “I think passionately he is perfect.”

Evans is a good football manager, and he did quite well at Leeds during the 2015-16 campaign.

True, the Whites failed to finish in the top 10 of the Championship, but some of their performances and results were quite encouraging.

The Scotsman has shown his passion for Leeds and genuinely wants to carry on at Elland Road. Perhaps club chairman Massimo Cellino should give Evans another chance and put his faith in him.

The West Yorkshire outfit last featured in the Premier League in 2004 and have become also-rans in the Championship in recent seasons.
