West Ham United are ready to pull out of a potential deal for Argentinian forward Jonathan Calleri after he was selected for the Olympic Games, reports the Daily Star.

West Ham United are desperate to add a striker to their squad this summer and have been linked with a number of forwards across Europe.

They are not limiting their search to Europe though, and have been linked with a move for Calleri in recent weeks also.

According to Brazilian publication Lance, the Hammers were in advanced talks with the striker about a potential move to the Olympic Stadium next season.

However, they are now set to pull out of that potential deal after he was included in his country’s squad for the forthcoming Olympic Games.

Argentina are being widely tipped to do well in the tournament, and as a result Slaven Bilic's side would be without him up until August 20, a week before the new Premier League season kicks off.

According to the Daily Star, that worries the Hammers, as it would mean he would not only miss out on pre-season but also the chance to settle in his new surroundings.
