Much of Turkey's hopes will depend on the midfielder's form.
Arda Turan - Turkey - Will face Croatia, Spain, and Czech Republic
HITC Sport writers have compiled a list of the top 50 players at Euro 2016, assessing players from across the 24 countries taking part at this summer's tournament.
Coming in at number 33 is Barcelona and Turkey star Arda Turan, who will be looking to end a bizarre season by leading his country to a surprising result.
Turkey's coach Fatih Terim (L) speaks to Arda Turan
International record: 89 Caps, 17 Goals.
2015/16: While Turan moved from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona last summer, the Catalan giants' transfer ban meant that he was unable to make his Barca debut before January.
Although he helped Luis Enrique's side clinch the La Liga title, he has not played more than an hour of a game since March as the likes of Ivan Rakitic and Andres Iniesta continue to thrive in the middle.
What can we expect?
The 29-year-old will captain an experienced Turkey side for the tournament in a group from which they will fancy their chances of getting through. His ability to help the defence and then contribute going forward will be especially key against Spain, while his range of passing should help create chances against Croatia and Czech Republic.
And with several of his Barcelona teammates in the Spain squad, Turan will be hoping that his understanding of their games can give Turkey a greater chance of springing a surprise, while it could be his battle in the middle of the park with Barca teammate Rakitic that could have a major impact on the outcome of their clash with Croatia.
While Turan's lack of football in recent weeks may be a concern for Fatih Terim, it may allow the midfielder to go into the tournament much fresher than many others.

Which Premier League side would he suit?
Before his move to Barcelona, Turan was linked with a switch to Chelsea (via Guardian). And while he would have probably known that he faced an uphill battle holding down a place in the Barca side, he may have have thought that he would receive more opportunities than he has.
With the Blues' season proving extremely disappointing, they may consider making a move for him this summer especially if he manages to do well against some of the Barcelona teammates that he lines up against. The fact that he played alongside Diego Costa at Atletico may appeal to Antonio Conte and may tempt him to make a swoop.
