Samuelsen was named in Norway’s 23-man team for their friendlies against Portugal and Belgium in the coming weeks.
Norway did not qualify for Euro 2016, but they will be looking to use the two fixtures to give some of their younger players experience, and Samuelsen could make his full debut for his country.
Collison was keen to tell the 19-year-old to enjoy his time away with his nation, and he messaged the attacking midfielder soon after the news broke.
@samuelseen Congratulations on the call up my man... Enjoy it...— Jack collison (@jackcollison) May 24, 2016
Collison has had first hand experience of Samuelsen’s talent this season, during the skilful attacker’s loan spell at Peterborough United.
Collison is working as a coach at Posh, where Samuelsen spent the back end of the campaign at.
Samuelsen impressed with the League One side, and his talent has obviously not gone unnoticed by Norway’s selectors.
Samuelsen has made two senior appearances for West Ham to date, but he is yet to play in the Premier League.
Samuelsen could be sent out on loan again next season, with Peterborough interested in bringing him back to the ABAX Stadium again on a temporary deal.
