A new name has entered the running for the Leeds United head coach position, according to bookies SkyBet.

Luis Diego Lopez is rated at 10/1 to land the role, with current boss Steve Evans rising to 11/1 having been 3/1 late last week.

Lopez is the former boss of Cagliari, where he starred as a player, when the club was owned by now Leeds president and owner Massimo Cellino.

After Cagliari won promotion back into Serie A this past week, Cellino has been back in Italy to attend a celebration event as a guest of the club.

Lopez has worked under Cellino once in his first spell as manager, but was fired as manager after less than a year, becoming the 36th coach to befall the same fate at Cagliari under the now Leeds owner.

Cellino is now looking to appoint his seventh head coach at Leeds, although he could yet turn back to Evans.
