Speaking to Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Mario Gotze’s father has claimed there has been no contact with Liverpoool over a move from Bayern Munich.

The Bayern Munich star has been heavily linked with a move to the Reds for several months, with his future at the German champions looking bleak.

According to reports, he has been told by incoming manager Carlo Ancelotti that he will not be a part of his first-team plans next season.

That has further added fuel that a move to Liverpool could be on the cards, where he would link up with his former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp.

However, his father has now claimed that he is unaware of any contact with the Reds about a move.

“I don't know anything about an alleged imminent transfer to Liverpool," he told German paper Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

“Mario is my son, we talk to each other. I would know about it."

This news is the latest blow for Liverpool in their pursuit of Gotze, with the player himself having seemingly poured cold water on the move this week.

He told Bild this week that he has every intention of staying at Bayern and seeing out the final year of his contract under Ancelotti.

Add that into his father’s latest comments and it seems Gotze will not be arriving at Anfield this summer.
