Former Arsenal striker John Hartson has told the Daily Star that the club should make a move for Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski this summer.

Arsenal are expected to be busy in this summer transfer window as they look to recover from a disappointing campaign this past season.

They have already moved quickly to make one big summer signing, with the £30million capture of Granit Xhaka expected to be completed this week.

Top of their wish list is likely to be a world-class striker, with that department of their team having struggled once again this season.

And Hartson believes that there should be one man they make a move for: Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski.

“I’d like them to go and get a Lewandowski, that type of player,” he told the Daily Star.

"Another big marquee signing is needed. I know they've got in Ozil and Sanchez and paid big money for them but I'd love a Lewandowski."

Lewandowski would certainly be a superstar signing for Arsenal and he would solve their goal-scoring problems comfortably.

He would not come cheap though, with Bayern unlikely to be keen on a sale and demand big money for their star centre forward before sanctioning an exit.

Arsenal would face stern competition for his signature, too, with Real Madrid thought to be strong suitors and perhaps the Gunners would be best setting their sights a little lower.
