Siem De Jong has revealed to Fox Sport Netherlands that he is considering his options away from Newcastle United.
Following Newcastle’s relegation to the Championship it is widely expected that the Magpies will lose a host of their key men over the summer.
A bit surprisingly, a number of players such as Ayoze Perez, Vurnon Anita and Tim Krul have all expressed their desire to stay put at St. James’ Park and attempt to help Newcastle earn promotion back to the Premier League.
The prospect of Newcastle keeping hold of de Jong does not look too bright though as the Dutch international has gone on to drop a huge hint that he is looking to leave the Magpies.
De Jong joined Newcastle from Ajax in the summer of 2014 but has barely featured at all due to a number of persistent injury problems.
Now the 27-year-old has finally managed to return to full fitness and as a blow to Newcastle the former Ajax man has gone on to state that he is looking at a possible exit from St. James’ Park, either on loan or permanently, this summer.
He told Fox Sports: “I think about everything. If the club says I may be sold or rented out, I look at all the possibilities.
“I’d rather not return to Holland just yet, although Ajax is always an option. I want to play again, get into a rhythm. It will not be easy for me. I hope for a good solution.”
